Heritage  Fair, 24th May 2008, Central Library Rotherham

Towards the end of April together with Friends of Boston Castle and Parklands we shall be organising a short walk up Moorgate taking in several of the large houses that stood in the area and then going to Moorgate Cemetry to learn the story of a few of the graves  and rounding it all off  with a well earned cup of tea and cake. When the date is finalised we shall advertise details here.

 

Past Events

 On April 30th, 25 people joined the  Friends group for a walk from Rotherham town centre to 
Masbrough. Margaret Sides guided the walkers and pointed out many places of interest which stirred 
both memories and discussion. The general feeling was of surprise that so much history existed in such 
a small area. A brochure contained more detail. The  walkers enjoyed refreshments at the community 
centre afterwards. We are  planning another walk covering Masbrough itself, 
Holmes and Ferham in the near future.

Rotherham Markets Department arranged a  charity market which took place on 15th of 
October 2005 at the Outside Market,  the event was very successful and as well as helping us 
raise funds by selling donated goods, it also gave us the chance to tell more people about our 
groups  work.
